The Listening Room - How It Works

Welcome to the Gopher State Tape Library Listening Room. In this part of our website we provide a short (5 - 15 minute) 'clip' of some of our tapes & CD's. It is our hope that these clips will help many of our customers get a 'feel' for the kind of message that they can expect on a particular CD or tape. Generally, what you will hear is the first portion of the Cd or tape. Below you will see how the playing controls look and work:

The Listening Room utilizes a method of streaming MP3 audio files that eliminates waiting for the entire file to download before playing it. This is designed around a 56k transmission rate. Therefore, those having a DSL Internet connection, or faster, will be able to listen seamlessly after clicking on the button (the button both starts and stops the audio). Those with slower dialup connections may experience some breaks in the audio while it is downloading. However, after you have played a selection all the through - the entire file is in your computers memory and clicking on it a second time will result in an uninterrupted playback.

PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON MORE THAN 1 FILE AT A TIME!

We hope that you enjoy this new addition to our website. We will be adding to the files available on a fairly regular basis. Our goal is to have at least 5 samples from each of the categories in our catalog. We think this will provide you with a nice tool in order to select CD's or tapes of folks you haven't heard before.
